MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback
Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback
Most importantly, have you been nice?
Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback
Just an update:ChrisUK wrote:Firstly, great work on MX17 - used the RC since release... only 2 minor problems:
CD/DVDs aren't detected unless I load them using something like VLC to attempt to play the content. To be clear, nothing shows up in Thunar until loaded by VLC.
Also, resume from suspend is unpredictable - sometimes just get a black screen; only way around it is login to TTY1 (CTRL-ALT-F1) and then TTY7 (CTRL-ALT-F7) gets the Desktop back.
I'm not on MX17 ATM, as I'm updating Manjaro.
EDIT: I've switched to the 4.9 series Kernel as it works fine with my hardware... both of the above problems occur with the later Kernels tooCode: Select all

No need to actually login to TTY1 on resume, just activate TTY1 then switch to TTY7 (so just do CTRL-ALT-F1 then CTRL-ALT F7. Not happening often though, and it's not a problem for me.
After installing all of the programs that I use daily, and setting everything up to suit me, I'm very happy with the result. Some nice touches here and there by the devs, it's the attention to detail that makes a Distro stand out from the crowd... again, nice work

Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback
Compiz is available in the MX Package installer, no need to build anything, I have been using it since beta 2 without a problem.

Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback
As a rule of thumb if you look for a program try first to see if it's available in MX Package (either under Popular Application tab, or under Full App Catalog: either Stable or MX Test Repo). If it's not there you can make a request to our packagers and they are usually very quick to add a build to MX Test Repo (if possible, depending on the app).

i think it is bit outdated ..richb wrote:Compiz is available in the MX Package installer, no need to build anything, I have been using it since beta 2 without a problem.

Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback
Isn't the compiz in MXPI actually the revived Compiz Reloaded, ie, 0.8.14? I think that was the reason behind Stevo packaging this in MXPI.vamsi wrote:i think it is bit outdated ..richb wrote:Compiz is available in the MX Package installer, no need to build anything, I have been using it since beta 2 without a problem.
Version 0.9 doesn't seem as popular as Reloaded.
And it's better to just do the one-click install from MXPI Popular Apps tab. There was no need to try to figure out which of the many compiz packages were needed or part of the same version.
