antiX net images available
antiX net images available
Want to build up from the bare minimum to create your own personalised antiX Debian systemd-free install?
Then, try our net.iso install images.
Available for 32 and 64 bit processors for Debian jessie and Debian stretch.
Images are under 150MB.
What's on the iso?
* 4.4.10 antiX custom kernel and headers (not libre)
* cli-installer
* antiX live system and persistence
* cli remastering
* live-kernel-updater
* live-usb-maker
* nano for editing
* rsync
* eudev
* sysvinit as init default. No systemd or libsystemd0.
Get them here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix- ... /antiX-16/ Jessie
https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix- ... /antiX-17/ Stretch
These images are offered to experienced Debian users since the cli-installer assumes that users have some knowledge of Linux.
On first boot, follow the instructions to login as root and start the cli-installer.
Make sure you have an Internet connection before running the installer and you know the partition you want to install onto eg sdb2.
You MUST say 'Yes' to the 'Are you using a net install? question and you must install grub to the MBR.
At the moment UEFI install is not supported.
PS MATE desktop is in the antiX repos for jessie, testing (stretch) and sid. Rebuilt to remove any systemd and/or libsystemd0 dependencies!
PS2 For live-remaster and persistence to work better, install gettext-base, lockfile-progs, xz-utils and p7zip
Enjoy!

Looks like fun!
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

Re: antiX net images available
Hello asqwerth, I downloaded the full image and have run it from a virtualbox under MX16. It strikes me (as I am sure it should) much as an old friend given the strong AntiX and MX links. Good to have for select times in vbox however, there's nothing in AntiX that would make me want to have that (as some have commented) as "their daily driver". Of course, everyone has different needs/uses and so as that other cliche goes, "your mileage may vary".
Re: antiX net images available
I don't see your systemd free MATE packages in the jessie antiX repos that are enabled for MX15/16, I do see the ones that Stevo built that are in his OBS repo.anticapitalista wrote:...PS MATE desktop is in the antiX repos for jessie, testing (stretch) and sid. Re: antiX net images available
The whole MATE package isn't there since it is not needed.
The packages that needed systemd/libstsremd0 removed as a dependency are here:
http://antix.daveserver.info/jessie/pool/nosystemd/m/
apt-get install mate will use mate from jessie plus nosystemd parts from antiX.
antiX-16 releases have mx repos disabled (or removed from the net versions).

I use antix 16.1 as daily driver (on my second machine). Very stable and predictable system. And with fluxbox, it masterpiece of software.linexer2016 wrote:there's nothing in AntiX that would make me want to have that (as some have commented) as "their daily driver".

Hello Ogis,
I have only briefly checked out what fluxbox is and it looks interesting. As a user, are you able to describe what benefits/features you find of value over the standard xfce window manager?

If you have a box with 1G RAM or less, you'll clearly notice the difference.
