That did it! Thank you Tim. The printer is working now. Prints, scans just like it should. Thank you.

Needed to reinstall this printer and I am having trouble remembering all the details as to how we had it working before. Trying to use Tims instructions as before but, this is the error I am getting.

Code: Select all

[root@Thatch dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386]# dpkg -i --force-architecture dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb
dpkg: error processing dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
 dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb
What am I doing wrong now?

looks like dpkg can't find your deb file.

what I meant is...is the .deb file you referenced in that directory. because it doesn't look like it from what output you posted. the output is the same if I run that command you posted, and I know I don't have the .deb file.

I have been trying to run that command from my dowloads which is where that deb file is located.

Downloaded the debian file from brother again and by clicking on it the system asks for my root password. After typing that in, this is what I get.

Very frustrating. And yes ia32-libs is installed.

That is a 32 bit package. You need the 64 bit package if you are running 64 bit Mepis

I just downloaded it and installed fine here.

just to cover the bases, can you post output of

Code: Select all

ls dcp*
from the directory. maybe there is something odd...

there are no 64bit brother drivers. they are all 32 bit, and with multi-arch they work fine. I use a 32bit brother driver in my 64bit antix.

you do, however, need ia32-libs installed already if you are running 64 bit.
