Okay, carp boy, I've got a perfectly good, working, not crashing load of Fx 38.0.1 on this MX-14 KDE laptop.

I'm going to unpin it and update it. I hope I don't have to come after you...
You can rest easy. Couldn't crash this load of Fx on MX.

On MX 15 alpha, the version in the MX 15 repo still is seen as the now missing 40.0, even after updates, and is uninstallable. I worked around it with a manual download and install, but the repository must have had a hiccup in generating the packages file or something.

Been wondering about that...

BTW: the FF and TB packages are coming to 15a with the update channel enabled, so the user gets a notice from the app to activate the update.

If you have Youtube HTML 5 problems with 40+ as these users did, the solution is in this thread:

http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=124283

A debian tester using our package also had and fixed the same issue.

In about:config,

Enable all of the following to be true:

media.mediasource.enabled
media.mediasource.webm.enabled
media.fragmented-mp4.ffmpeg.enabled
media.fragmented-mp4.gmp.enabled
media.fragmented-mp4.exposed
media.peerconnection.video.h264_enabled
media.fragmented-mp4.exposed

Maybe we can patch the default configuration and turn off the update notifier while we're at it.

app.update.auto - false
app.update.enabled - false
app.update.silent - false

--Update: or not. As far as I can tell, that config file get generated by the binary, so there's no text file to patch.

firefox-41.0.2 is now available for download.
Starting from version-41.0.1 and with future releases, you'll get a couple extra bookmarks for you favorite distro (nice job steveo!)

From softpedia
Just a few moments ago, Mozilla published a second hotfix release for its latest stable Mozilla Firefox 41.0 web browser patching a single vulnerability that could allow a malicious web page to access private data from other origins.

The Mozilla Firefox 41.0.2 update has been released earlier today, October 15, for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X computer operating systems. According to Mozilla, Firefox 41.0.2 is here to fix a single issue, a high impact vulnerability in the fetch() API (Application Programming Interface), which was not capable of implementing the CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) specification.
Check out the softpedia site for more.
