Freeplane (mind map application)

#1 Post by ErikP » Sun Feb 01, 2015 5:51 am

This might be a minority interest but I use Freeplane and other mindmappers. There is quite a nice Google app called Mindmup but it lacks the power and flexibility of Freeplane (itself a fork of the excellent and venerable Freemind).

I am suffering application envy since our Windows using cousins are enjoying the sunny uplands of version 1.3.12 while I wander the Wheezy foothills of 1.1.3. Is there enough interest to produce a community version for MX14?

I see a 1.3.12 in sid. I can take a look.
edit: I did and this one will take some work.
edit: I thought it would go with only 2 backports but No.
edit: will post more tomorrow.
edit: should be available soon...

Wow - Freeplane 1.3.12 has turned up in the community repo and it seems to be working very well. I owe someone a big thanks.

Would it be Mike in Santa Rosa?

There is a free beer waiting if you ever get to London. :toast:

It's not practical to backport all the packages required to build the latest freeplane on MX-16 (I went 8 packages down the dependency rabbit hole & it was still going...)
Fortunately, it's not necessary. You can download the newest freeplane deb built by the freeplane developers from Sourceforge:
