LibreOffice not starting

#1 Post by gbhollr »

I tried to start LibreOffice on my MX Linux but all I get is just a quick blip of the splash screen but nothing else.
I even reinstalled the program but it did nothing to help.

Try starting it using the terminal and see what errors pop up.

What version are you using, on what are you using it? Perhaps you can place details here on your environment use: MX Tools>> Quick System Info.

I personally use the appimage with zero difficulties.... see:

First off, I've tried it with the terminal and here's what happened.
LibreOffice_Error.jpg
Here are the details of my OS.

Code: Select all

System:
  Host: mx1 Kernel: 4.19.0-1-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 6.3.0
  Desktop: Xfce 4.12.3 Distro: MX-18.2_x64 Continuum Feb 9 2019
  base: Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)

Last of all, my version of LibreOffice should be the latest in the MX repositories.

Well, that might be 6.1.5 in the test repo...or not. Can you give us the output of

Code: Select all

apt policy libreoffice

inxi -r

Have you preserved an old home folder by any chance.

A quick search for libtreoffice and signal 11 suggests removing the ~/.config/libreoffice folder may help, although you would lose any older libreoffice config.doing so.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

I tried that, it didn't work.

As for the home folder, I don't think so.
Although what if I did?
