Ok, just check these two, beginning with Linux-headers and Linux-image :

Linux-headers-4.9.189.......
Linux-image-4.9.189.......

And click install on the bottom (in MX Package Installer)

(Same for all, 5.2.8 etc.. )

Tip: If you first type the numbers in the search box above, it'll be easier to distinguish among others.

P.S. Next boot, you'll find the option for kernel 4.9 under advanced boot options in Grub menu to start the pc with it. But for 5.2.8 it will be directly on the list. As the system automatically uses the highest kernel found, by default.

Installing both of 4.9.189 ends with error. There is some hash-sums issue. Apt recommends to run update and --fix-missing options but it doesnt help.

Now I'm booted with 5.2.8 kernel and result is the same - laptop wakes up from first supsending

Code: Select all

$ uname -a
Linux baz-acer 5.2.8-antix.1-amd64-smp #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Aug 13 15:17:11 BST 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Are you using a mouse with it? My MSI lappy was mysteriously waking up after suspending with the 5.2 kernel until I found out that any signal from my wireless mouse (I leave the nano receiver plugged in) would make it resume. I now just turn off the mouse before suspending to RAM.

I could probably use TLP or powertop to switch power off to the USB ports on suspend to fix the issue, too.

... So, just inspect the Bios, submenus for such options and for Ahci..

At worst case you can try resetting the Bios to factory defaults.. (Sometimes that works especially with booting or installation issues.. nothing to lose..)
pomegranate99 wrote: Sat Aug 24, 2019 2:15 pm I figured it out!

I disabled the "Wake on LAN" option in my BIOS, and that is it!
Though it was an HP laptop, not Acer, just as an example to Bios sourced issues...

There is no such options in my laptop's bios. I've checked it first. That ussiu happens only once - after reboot. All the next suspends are works well.
Want to remind that it happens only on MXL unlike other distros that I've used: ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu, mint, majaro, opensuse, debian, rosa, alt, astra. All of the above handles correctly with suspend of my acer.
