Under MX package installer tool, choosing the <Debian backport> tab does not work properly.
While selecting the <Debian backport> tab , it pops up a window <Downloading package info> .
But this pop up window crashes after few seconds and tab highlight switches to <popular application> tab but without any list.
All other tabs package listings loads properly.
Only the <Debian backport> tab package loading/listing fails.

Same problem with X64 version also.
Package loading fails only with Debian backports

Re: MX Package installer - Debian backport tab package list loading fails
Debian backports come from this repo ftp://ftp.us.debian.org so it might be a temporary issue with the site, although I personally didn't have problem with it today. Give it some time.
Re: MX Package installer - Debian backport tab package list loading fails
I checked with synaptic package manager by enabling the stretch-backports in the repository list.
( http://deb.debian.org/debian/ stretch-backports main )
It reloads the package list without error after enable.
Disabled back the stretch-backports under Synaptics Package Manager > Repositiories
Rechecked the Mx Package installer and its behavior is same.
The pops up window <Downloading package info> crashes or prematurely closes like time out.
My observation is other four tabs are loading the list properly . Only the Debian Backports tab fails

Re: MX Package installer - Debian backport tab package list loading fails
This <Downloading package info> crash still persist.
But if I keep on retry for several attempts it load the package list.
It is not consistent how many retry.
My observation is that if the package loading progress bar full swipe happens 7 or more times it loads the packages.
Anything under it crashes without package information.
Something like time out.But did not report any error
Attached are screenshots .
