Long delays on old Acer laptop

It seems a lot of Acer laptops have problems with long delays when booting.

Fehlix offered a solution to the problem at viewtopic.php?f=97&t=46450&p=461763&hil ... 21#p461683, and it seems the Debian 4.9 kernel can address the problem.

Will this problem disappear with MX 18?

I very much doubt the problem will go away with MX-18 as it is likely to use an even newer kernel than MX-17.

The problem exists with some Dell laptops from the Latitude D6xx range; they probably use the same chipset as the problematic Acers.

Would it be possible for this problem to be mentioned in the manual alongside its solution?

The Acer Extensa 4620Z that is being tested in the video only has 2 GB of ram (max), and the tester is trying to boot MX 17 from within Win XP which was a known resource hog. Of course it was slow to recognize the usb drive. The tester didn't make use of the onboard DVD writer and that makes me think that he was trying to make the procedure more tedious than it needed to be. For those interested here are the specs of that laptop:

It would certainly be a good idea to have it recorded somewhere.

My test Dell D630 still suffers the same problem with MX-18; replacing the kernel with the 4.9 one still fixes it.
