Hello can anyone confirm if this is a bug?
I'm seeing an issue with nomacs. If I use hotkeys to open an image it freezes and crashes. For example, open nomacs, press ctrl+o to bring up Open Image dialog, press enter (optionally change selection using up/down arrow keys.)
No crash occurs if the mouse is used to open the Open Image dialog or select an image from the dialog. It only/always seems to happen if only hotkeys are used.

Re: nomacs hotkey issue
I just tried the ctnl+O hotkey and worked ok here.
tried a few others...seems to work OK.
anything else having problems with hotkeys?

Hmmm.
Opened Nomacs via menu.
Used Ctrl-O then arrow keys to select an image.
Did not open the image, then in about five or ten seconds,
Nomacs crashed with no error message?
then,
Opened Nomacs via menu.
Used Ctrl-O then mouse to select an image.

then,
Opened Nomacs via menu with mouse.
Used Ctrl-O then mouse to select an image.
in a few seconds the image opened.
However, after the above, returned to the first procedure
and it opened, then it failed.
jpg's open OK, but png's lead to a crash, that I tried.
Unless I use the mouse, then they open.
I thought it was just a quirk of Nomacs,
and I quit using it in favor of Shotwell.

Re: nomacs hotkey issue
Thanks for taking a look
I did a little testing, this behavior happens for me on the original MX 17.0 iso (checked to rule out if updates in last few months caused an issue, guess not), also happens on 32bit iso (checked just because, I'm running 64bit), also I checked to see if this happens in featherpad, as they're both qt5 apps, thought maybe there was something there, guess not. I ran nomacs from the terminal, this is what I get. (The seg fault occurs as the application crashes, the rest of the output is from when it's launched.)
So it does seem to be an issue confined to nomacs, but I didn't see any similar bug reports on upstreams end. I can file one if we don't find anything here.
edit
I confirmed this issue also happens on regular debian xfce (stretch) but does NOT happen under KDE environment on MX or debian (i.e. when using kdialog instead of gtkfilechooser)
And finally, it doesn't care whether it's using gtk2 or gtk3 file chooser, no good either way.
This is what /var/log/messages is able to tell me:
Just to confirm, I'm only seeing the problem if I use ctrl+O AND press enter to select the file. If I use ctrl+O and click on the file or click on the open button, it's fine.dolphin_oracle wrote:I just tried the ctnl+O hotkey and worked ok here.

Yep, this is about what I got. It crashes if you use only hotkeys to open the image, otherwise it's alright.Richard wrote: Opened Nomacs via menu.

On my end I'm not seeing a difference between jpgs or png.Richard wrote: jpg's seem to open OK, but png's seem to lead to a crash.

Re: nomacs hotkey issue
ok, I tried, that...cntrl +O plus enter to select a file. ...and it does crash, rather ungraciously.

Re: nomacs hotkey issue
Just to complicate/confuse matters, I tried the same sequences as Richard. No crashes but the machine locked up twice.
