That might be an stick issue. As you should at least see the Grub menu.
There are no problems with other Linux distributions under the same conditions. This is not a problem with my computer.

Yes, I understand. Sometimes it happens, even if you write an ISO with dd to the stick that still some old residual partition table information left on the stick, which are not cleared by the dd command, e.g. GPT table info on the stick are located far at the end of the device, which can confuse UEFI when booting.
To avoid such situation, you can clear partition table before creating the stick, e.g. by running
from the command line in MX Linux (e.g. when running live in legacy mode) :

Code: Select all

sudo live-usb-maker partition-clear
It will show you found USB stick to select.
Als you can than run creating dd- ISO stick with

Code: Select all

sudo dd-live-usb -f <path-to-iso>
and if you have live-usb-maker available you you also create
a LiveUSB this way:

Code: Select all

sudo live-usb-maker -f <path-to-iso>

Why, then, does not boot from a DVD disc? The problem is not the flash drive or the recording method. Think about it.

Thats not one issue, as you mentioned on USB you got an invalid sector size - on DVD you see the Grub menu, but get stuck when preceeding further.

Tell me a way to install version 18.3 in UEFI mode with guaranteed success. I understand version 18.4 will not be, the next version 19?
