MX-17.1 Some programs can't resize.

#1 Post by Mauser »

This bug looked like it got carried over from MX-17 to MX-17.1 where some program windows can't resize. So far I found this issue with advert-block and Libre Office.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

LibreOffice is interesting. The "Front Page" of LibreOffice appears to have minimum height related to fitting all the buttons on the left into the window. It can be made taller than that but not shorter no matter what.
However each of the LibreOffice components can be made to.
Open Settings -> Appearance and change your DPI to 96. Close. Open it again and uncheck Custom DPI. Close.
Now open Libreoffice Writer. Resize the window to only a few lines of text high. Close it.
Change your custom DPI back to 120. Writer will now open at the size you had it set and is completely resizable.

I'll have to experiment to see if there's a way to accomplish this without the back & forth - I rather suspect there is.

Dell Inspiron 15, AMD Ryzen 7 2700u (quad core). Sabrent 500GB nvme, Seagate 1TB

Thanks. It's a little bit better but it's still too long. My DPI is set to 150 because of my eyes. What's strange it's only these two programs that won't resize. All the other programs have no problem.

I set my dpi to 150 and I can resize Writer or Calc too tiny to use:

Not that window. This window. Image I use the Alt key and left mouse click to move it to get to what's hidden as a work around.

Sorry, that's by (the LO devs) design. We can't fix it. You can't resize it any smaller than that on Windows either.

I can make it really small..

I have more than one file in there, but this is the smallest I can get it:

But indeed not smaller vertically.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Have you checked if this window is maximized by default ? It should be the case : maximized windows can't be resized, same as the fullscreen-sized ones.

To check this you could use [Alt]+[F10] to restaure/maximize it and [Alt]+[F8] to resize it.
It works here, like for Eadwine :

> Laptop x2 : WIP obsolescence and "old" batteries prices have killed my project

You can reduce the height vertically until the Base Database icon is touching the Help & Extensions buttons at the bottom.
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400
