MX update problem

#1 Post by colin_b »

A frustrated YouTuber has made a video about upgrading MX Linux from v16 to v17

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yROPR-oZrEo

He sounds distraught.

Would it be possible for this to be addressed?

no. and we have been pretty up front about it.

too much changed, and we were not set up to roll. maybe for the future, but not today.

edit:::I read this wrong. there is a box to check as stevo said.

he wasn't talking about "rolling"

He's wrong about needing a separate home partition to save the settings there, too, which seems to be the main complaint. The save home feature works fine without one. My guess is that he forgot to tick that box.

Yep, it works that way - I installed MX17 over my MX15 partition preserving /home , which was in the root partition, not separate.

I am glad you did. Misinformation should be called out.
