The remaining question for me is how that happened. Since nobody else has seen it, I think we can safely eliminate the updates and conclude this is limited to a particular user and a particular machine.

I do not know how it happened, I do not use often gparted and before worked ok!

I am guessing it happened because of me playing with file permissions for some other issue.
