Just installed dockbarx and the dockbarx-panel-plugin. They're working perfectly. Thank you timkb4cq.

Thank you very much! Working well here too. FWIW, for anyone reading on dockbarx, when I first install it, it seems I have to play with the "alpha" setting on the panel to make the dockbarx icons appear the first time. Once they do appear, no more fiddling is necessary. Maybe I should be logging out after install or something like that, and that would fix the problem, but at any rate fiddling with the alpha and returning the setting to beforehand always seems to work for me. This is definitely not MX17 related as i have seen it previously almost every time I install dockbarx anywhere. But once running, it is a great tool!

I have installed docbarx and dockbarx plugin for xfce panel.
The problem i find is that it doesen't behave well with libre office applications.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for that?

I have installed it from the files dowloaded from GitHub:
https://github.com/M7S/dockbarx
https://github.com/TiZ-EX1/xfce4-dockbarx-plugin

I could not find dockbarx-themes-extra available for mx-linux.

@timkb4cq said
Dockbarx, dockx & dockbar-extra-themes for MX-17 are now available in the Testing repository.
I'm not very familiar with them, so let me know how they work so (if that's well) they can be moved to the Main repo.
Should i enable the testing repo and reinstall it from there?

The testing repo is debian's or mx has it's own testing repo?

He meant MX Test Repo, accessed through MX Package Installer.

good. Thank you.
I found it in the repo and installed the packages dockbarx, xfce4-dockbarx-plugin and dockbarx-themes-extra.
It has now the same behaviour than before.

But perhaps i should uninstall the previous one. And I don't know how to do it.
I could not do it via teminal:

sudo apt-get remove dockbarx
"Unable to locate package".

nor with synaptic. They were not listed, as if they weren't installed.

I had installed them via a a script setup.py

Packages that are installed via setup.py or ./configure && make && make install can not be tracked by the package manager, so it can't remove them. Often there is a --uninstall switch for make or setup.py but not in the case of dockbarx. This is one reason why debian based distros discourage that sort of program installation.

Fortunately, setup.py for dockbarx puts the files in the same locations as our .deb package does, so installing from the repo should overwrite the old files, although it could leave old files that aren't included in the package.

Good to know.
I will use mx-package installer from now on.
i tried with a live verion of mx-17.
it ships libreoffice 5.
i used the mx test repo to install docbarx.
it behaved well.
then i upgraded libreoffice from the stable repo to version 6.
now dockbarx is wrong.
So it seems like dockbarx has not yet support for libreoffice 6. Or something like that.

There is a patch that fixes the dockbarx issue with libreoffice 6.

If anyone needs it: https://github.com/M7S/dockbarx/issues/70

The way to apply it: https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?pid=48284#p48284
