Post by GuiGuy » Thu Dec 03, 2015 6:03 pm

I dislike all the recent versions of Thunderbird.
Does anybody know where I can find a deb of version 2.0.0.24 will run on mx14 ?

mozilla arhives the tar balls they distribute. at least with firefox you just extract into a folder and run the file direct. no deb though

lenovo ThinkPad T530 - MX-18.3
lenovo s21e - antiX-19 beta 2 (live-USB)
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

If your experience is like mine you'll run into dependency problems with the tarball.

I got tired of fighting it and am now running 31.7 on this M11 install and whatever is the default on MX-14 and MX-15. It took me a good week to beat my profile into submission, but with a bunch of about:config edits, extensions, and additional custom buttons I got it to look and feel darn near exactly the same as v2.0.0.24.

Thanks, guys.
I am trying seamonkey at the moment - it does seem better than the recent Tbird versions.

Ya beat me to it. I had to revert to an earlier version because a self signed Cert. issue. Got an earlier .deb from there. Installed with GDebi. Problem solved. M12B2 & 14.4

Link for Iceweasel

Thanks D_O,
I thought you had solved my problem when your link got me to a deb of 2.0.0.24 but sadly it does not want to install on my MX14

Yup. That's what I'm talking about. And the older libhunspell has dependency issues or compatibility issues if you try and install it. You'll get into needing libjpeg62 and libnspr4 and on and on and on, and when you're done it will circle back and you'll be hosed.
