OK, it's obviously a two-step registration process which was as not clear spelled out -
at least not for me simple minded one ;=)
Thanks for help for the helpers! :alien:

Thanks for helping!

The steps for carrying out translations are explained simply here in the wiki.

OK... I see the steps explained well spelled out and clearly .

… anyway I'm in..
To get warm with it just a question using an example.
F.i.: Where to find the max. length of the strings need to fit into the application display field.
Learning by doing it by an live example translation English -> german
I'm using this as I spotted example already long time ago.
Let's choose one: mx-packageinstaler

Currently I do see:
String No 8 : Full App Catalog -> Kompletter App-Katal
The correct translation would be
String No 8 : Full App Catalog -> Kompletter App-Katalog
Now the question: Where do I see the max. length available for that string?
I assume the original translator wrote the correct translation into it.
But it might be that within the application "mx-packageinstaler"
the string was to long? So someone else made it unfortunately shorter, which is now not a valid german word and actually not easy guess what it means word .
If we have a string-length limit here we might choose an alternative shorter translation to fit into the length condition...

Far as I know, I haven't come across a string limiter en Spanish.
German can be more descriptive, but I think the devs have tried to allow for considerable expansion.

Old_Giza will have the official word. :)

In the example above it might have simply a typo mistake and we could simply correct the translation.
But without indication of max-string / field length I would feel we end up looking into the running application to verify how the translation string fits into displayed content.

Quickly glancing through gazelle-installer translation en->de looks very good.
I might have spotted some smaller ones which I'll go and add my sugesstions.
But that might be an exercise I'll take tomorrow to become a "translator-newbie".

I have not set string limits anywhere. You are right, in some cases where there is a fixed amount of space, there is no warning and truncation will occur in the app. At this time, the only way to catch these cases is to run the application to make sure your translations are OK and when necessary go back to Transifex and make adjustments. I realize this is not the best way, for the translator or the end user.

That example looks about normal to me.
Spanish generally runs a bit longer than English, as well.

Oh boys and girls... I've gone through all the string gazelle-installer* .. and I do feel like a gazelle now. yes I found a lot and fixed them. Looks like have to go through some more other too as e.g. in mx-tweaks have also found some. ok its not only the spelling but also the akward type of computer translation which sometime is kind confuseing and brain-burning.
