Where do I change font colors? [SOLVED]

#1

Post by Redacted » Thu Jun 07, 2018 8:55 am

I'm using the Greybird-mx17 theme.
I'd like to change Thunar's side pane font color to jet black (for my aging eyes :happy: ).
What line in what file do I change?
I've searched but can't seem to find an answer.
TIA.

I would back up the theme first, but either way, the file should be /usr/share/themes/Greybird-mx17/gtk-2.0/apps/thunar.rc

Change the "text" lines in the first section from

Code: Select all

style "sidepane"
{
        GtkTreeView::vertical-separator = 4

        base[NORMAL]            = mix (0.1, shade (1.35,@selected_bg_color), shade (0.9,@base_color))
        base[INSENSITIVE]       = mix (0.4, shade (1.35,@selected_bg_color), shade (0.9,@base_color))

        text[NORMAL]            = mix (0.7, @text_color, @base_color)
        text[ACTIVE]            = mix (0.7, @text_color, @base_color)
        text[SELECTED]          = mix (0.7, @text_color, @base_color)
to

Code: Select all

style "sidepane"
{
    GtkTreeView::vertical-separator = 4

    base[NORMAL]        = mix (0.1, shade (1.35,@selected_bg_color), shade (0.9,@base_color))
    base[INSENSITIVE]   = mix (0.4, shade (1.35,@selected_bg_color), shade (0.9,@base_color))

    text[NORMAL]        = "#000000"
    text[ACTIVE]        = "#000000"
    text[SELECTED]      = "#000000"
reload the theme, and you should be good!

Adwaita-Dark Style will make everything more legible -- bright white on black.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I have a tough time seeing white on black - don't know why.

Yes, I like it for a little while then back to more muted colors.

Rich's edits to /usr/share/themes/Greybird-mx17/gtk-2.0/apps/thunar.rc
make more sense to make left side Thunar stand out a bit more.

Perhaps these should be cross referenced on the "tips and tricks" sub board ?
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400
