If Trimage were a part of the distro then people who upload images to the forum could optimize them first to reduce bandwidth.
Have you scaling ratios in size with not too much visual detectable differences?
My apologies, but I don't follow.

After having applied trimage how much will the image file size be reduced in average?
E.g by 10%, 50%.. ? only to get an idea…

It can vary. Some images reduce only a few percent, others can reduce by 25%.

From the website:
https://trimage.org/

All image files are losslessy compressed on the highest available compression levels, and EXIF and other metadata is removed.
There is one thing lacking now I look a bit closer. The screenshot program saves images in PNG files, and a full screen screenshot can be greater than 1MB in size. Even if the screenshots are optimized with Trimage they are too big to upload to the forum. Unfortunately Trimage doesn't allow PNGs to be converted to JPGs which would significantly reduce the file sizes, so my thought of using it for forum posts is not valid when it comes to PNGs. :frown:

FI: Use the same concept as jpegoptim, jpeg-recompress, jpegmini, etc
"... usually saves 30-70% of the size for JPEGs coming from a digital camera"

image-recompress

Compress JPEGs by re-encoding to the smallest JPEG quality while keeping perceived visual quality the same and by making sure huffman tables are optimized. This is a lossy operation, but the images are visually identical and it usually saves 30-70% of the size for JPEGs coming from a digital camera, particularly DSLRs. By default all EXIF/IPTC/XMP and color profile metadata is copied over, but this can be disabled to save more space if desired.

"Your Photos on a Diet
Reduce image size by up to 80%, without compromising quality"
