yes, that's right. and bluebird does have the same issues, and the same fixes.

I was saying that the original bluebird and greybird are in murrine-themes. ours are in, as you note, mx-X-themes.

before and after shots of greybird. before is the version shipping with mx-15. after is with the version from stretch. note the black lines are gone in the printer app.

while bluebird got updated as well, it still shows the lines, but it doesn't look bad at all, the lines line up fairly well with already (true already in the current mx-themes-bluebird package).

The various murine-* themes did not show the problem of the thick&thin,
when I tried them this morning.

I really like the thick style. :number1:

I may enjoy trying different icons and themes, but I have absolutely no idea how the themes work or how the files are written.

So I'm glad we have people in this community to pass the baton to.

I'm happy to have greybird-thick remain as the default theme for MX since it looks like there are upstream solutions to the bugs. It's a very respectable theme.

I was just surprised that the so-called officially supported theme for XFCE wasn't working well with even the printer applet, which is a pretty common program. I never noticed it previously because this "Windows Printer via SAMBA" page of the applet window is not one I'd ever clicked on.

As for sudoku, I like doing at least one a day if possible. I find that gnome-sudoku has really challenging ones, more so than KSudoku. I think I've tried the ftlk one before and didn't really like it, but maybe I'll assess it again.

But that's why gnome-sudoku being almost unusable in greybird made me seek out other themes. I tried the Mediterranean series of themes, which I also like, but they had the same problem.

Sorry for the delay...gone for a few days...just tracked down the changes I made to Greybird and Bluebird themes.

All of my changes were made to the xfwm4 folder. That is where all the .xpm files are kept for the borders. I should be able to just copy in my modified xfwm4 folder, since none of the upstream changes from 'stretch' were likely to have changed the .xpms there. Anyway, I will check on that.

If someone (D_O?) can point me to the 'stretch' versions of the Greybird and Bluebird themes, I will make those changes and post a download link from github for testing.

your wish is my command.

https://packages.debian.org/stretch/all ... s/download

they are in murrine-themes, even though they are not listed. the package description hasn't been updated.

I'm not sure bluebird is fixed...

edit- you might find this github/project interesting as well...https://github.com/shimmerproject

fair warning...I don't think bluebird has been updated. it used to be the default theme for xubuntu, but its not packaged for 16.04. The 15.10 version still has the lines problem in gnome-sudoko.

Thanks, D_O. Will stick with Greybird.

BTW, how can you tell? Where is the version indicated? Looking in the murrine folder I downloaded, I don't see it in the Bluebird README...

I downloaded the debs from ubuntu to check. they package the "shimmer" themes separately, so you can download just the bluebird for instance.
