Have you tried our sister distro antiX Linux?

Try antiX. It shares common ancestors (Mepis) and developers with MX and is very light.

Also this is totally the wrong section of the forum for this post, maybe a mod can move it.

MX is already light. If you need super light you could try AntiX. The Debian base is wonderful for low spec hardware or if you just like a fast machine.
