choosing right linux

I'm not home right now and can't check. The whole set of colourful start icons (created by antechdesigns) should be in the same location as the default MX start button icon, maybe in a sub-folder thereof.

I just can't recall what location the default start icon is in, but I believe that they are indeed not in usr/share/icons. If it's not in usr/share/pixmaps, try looking at the various subfolders in /usr/local/share/

I just found them in /usr/local/share/icons/start-menu. Thanks. (I never could find the default start button's icon either. Now I know.)

I managed to change start icon thanks.

And panel setup how I like.

I actually thought about it and realised The icon is actually very unique and I like it

My next step is to setup nordvpn

In managed to do this on Mint but I like to make sure it's good with MX.

I need to install network manager as I find it the best option.

2. Install network-manager-openvpn by typing in Terminal:
sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn-gnome

I suggest you search this forum for mentions of VPN or nordvpn first, to see if any help you. I seem to recall quite a few threads on the subject of VPN. And maybe the Manual and Wiki?

Then if you still need help, start a NEW help thread with a proper description in the title so other forum members know what the thread's topic is about.

I think openvpn is pre-installed in MX anyway. At least, when I search the stable repository in MX Package Installer for VPN I see that openvpn is greyed out indicating that it's already installed, and I don't recollect installing it myself. Just another example of why MX is cool: so many apps that people would want to install already come with it.

Yep. running:

grep vpn /usr/share/antiX/installed-packages.txt

shows that both openvpn and vpnc are installed by default on MX-18 but not on antiX.

What a gem this Mx Linux is. Its really great.

I've gone through apperance and I am using default greybird mx17

Would love to have the panels in darker black with same light (white) appearance on filemanager tried them all but can't find that one but im sure its possible. Also tried making panel solid colour but that doesnt look nice with system tray icons.

Its no big deal as it still looks better than anything else I tried.
amazing the amount of configuration options are available.

Thanks for the help with vpn you were correct I didnt need to install anything.

For Imgur images, just add an "m" to the end of the Imgur image name, to get a 320x320 thumbnail which can be posted to the forum thread between the Img tags.
