Yes, I saw a lot of those. I just meant it was complaining about the mail protocols not sticking. See the screenshot. Same error over and over. I sent some mail to myself and checked from another machine, but never received it. Claws is setup and ready to go, so all is good.

Oh, I see...you were talking about mail protocols handled by TB! Well, like I said I've never used it so I wouldn't know about that. Regarding that mail client list, since I've been using claws mail like for 2 years now - I used to used seamonkey but some issues drove me away from it just as firefox and thunderbird did, I removed them from MX and installed chromium and claws - I thought that maybe I should try some other mail clients out there and see what they have to offer, I haven't tried many after all. So out of curiosity I tried one that caught my eye; sylpheed. It's gtk based too and looks like a clone of claws; interface, theme. Except it's not as good; I add my outlook account and it was taking forever to load messages. I removed it and now I feel that claws is even better. Although, I gonna try a few more just to kill my curosity ;)

For me the absolute dealbreaker for Claws and Sylpheed is the lack of ability to send HTML format. I don't want to do anything really fancy, but I do want to select fonts, bold, underlining, and italics.

A quick review indicates that neither Claws nor Sylpheed can do that natively, but I didn't take the time to look for plugins. All I see is reference to the developers didn't think HTML send was necessary or desirable. Sigh.

From security and intrusion prevention point of view html-email is a known security and privacy risk.
I'm using claws-mail to avoid this intentionally.
The claws-mail developers have decided against those risks as html is not required to write and read emails.
For those I support, I intentionally disable html-feature e.g. in thundebird, including remote "sniffing" content.

Note:
You can view html-mail content within claws-mail, e.g by opening in a "secure" html-viewer like dillo or mx-viewer, or a within properly secured web-browser.
:puppy:

It is a good idea, but in this case, this should be mentioned first at the top of claws-mail web site, before: Features.

Good point.
To add: The spam-detection tool which can be enabled with claws-mail,
appears to me very effective after a short "training" period to identify junk and non-junk.
I have it move detected spams automtically into a local spam-folder, which I do tidy up after
some days or weeks ;=)

Yes, I've read about that.

It is mentioned on its website:
Claws Mail is not a full-featured Personal Information Manager like Evolution or Outlook, although external plugins provide these functionalities. Claws Mail will not let you write and send HTML emails or other kind of annoyances, hence it may not be the software you need in some business environments.
and
Plugins are the mechanism for extending Claws Mail' capabilities. For example, imagine that you want to store your mails in a remote SQL database. In most mailers out there this is simply impossible without reworking the internals of the mailer. With Claws Mail you can simply write a plugin to achieve the task.

I don't know anything about writing plugins so I'm not sure whether its possible to write one that allows you to do that. By the way, I just found out that claws mail is a fork of sylpheed
Claws Mail has existed since April 2001. It was initially named Sylpheed-Claws and changed its name to Claws Mail in November 2006.
no wonder they look so much alike lol

Yes but I mean at the top level (as a policy) into the first page.

@fehlix : Yes it is an interesting plugin, I use it (bogofilter). I also use the deamon clamdscan (for virus)

Seems like it would be easily possible to allow basic html formatting commands (bold, underline, italics) while prohibiting automatic loading of external links, much like for example this forum software does. Without that ability they are limiting outgoing emails to little more than the equivalent of long text messages.

You mean like this:
Internal HTML Viewer

View links and HTML content without launching a web browser. The Bat!'s internal viewer supports HTML 4.0 and CSS v2.0 formatting, but ignores scripts and executable code preventing viruses from launching. The Bat!'s internal HTML viewer blocks viruses that use the known HTML vulnerability of Microsoft Internet Explorer (such as IFRAME and Automatic Execution of Embedded MIME type).
It's one of the reasons I use The Bat1, shame theere isn't a Linux email client that has the following features.
