Best online Translator is deepl.com

#1 Post by waldmattis »

Hello.
There are certainly a lot of visitors to this forum who have difficulties with English
and are therefore looking for good translation programs.

The best I have found so far on the basis of test reports is
deepl.com
It is a website, so it is not an independent app.
Provides excellent translation results.

Give it a try.
Regards
Karl

I just translated the text in German, looks ok to me.

Dutch looks fine as well. Thanks for the tip!

A 176-pp pilot project?! Wowza. Can you test Section 1 for us, picking a language that we don't have and that you are familiar with--Finnish, for example?

My experience with deepl.com is that it is very good with its European base languages, maybe especially the Romance languages, but perhaps less so with others.

I need to explore the use of deepl, and how to add new target languages there. But I also have started translation of user manual into Finnish, which I do manually every now and then.

That's terrific! You know the individual Sections are all in GitHub in odt format, right?

From their web-site translated from German:
Currently there are 42 possible combinations between English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Polish. More languages will be available soon.

The alternate choices for translated words is a nice feature. Good find.

I did not know that, but I compiled the pdf to odt on my own. On MX site there is very weakly information about making translations, just some email addresses.
