How many folks use mx-select-sound
Since we added pulseaudio back with MX 15, I'm wondering how many folks still use mx-select-sound?

I do :) Often the card is not selected so I have to select it to get sound to work.

Often I have found the correct card is not chosen if using a separate video card.
HDMI has been the problem for me most of the time.

Didn't use it before pulseaudio either because I have only one sound card, so pulseaudio didn't change anything for me...
Re: How many folks use mx-select-sound
I have used it since MX-15 out of habit and b/c it is so simple to see what to do, as opposed to PA.

Re: How many folks use mx-select-sound
I uninstalled pulseaudio on MX-17 as a test. mx-select-sound didn't work or I couldn't make it work so I reinstalled pulseaudio. Fortunately pulseaudio has been good enough on MX-17. Fact is that I have tried to run many distros without pulseaudio and never have the sound selector utilities worked for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pulseaudio is good for selecting default sound card. That's probably its greatest strength.

Re: How many folks use mx-select-sound
I use pulseaudio pavuconrol for anything sound related under MX-17 with my USB interface mostly helpful with newly install audio programs (apps) so I can select the right output. (Can play sound from many programs at the same time)
With antiX i still use it for newly installed programs. But with ncmpcpp I run this with alsa as hardware so I control my sound volume with the interface only . Opening pavuconrol with ncmpcpp playing this has no bearing on the sound output what so ever. And desktop volume controls won,t change the volume at all with this set to hardware.. (I can only get sound from one program at a time like this.)
(I have polybar running with antiX)

Re: How many folks use mx-select-sound
I have NO idea how to do it outside of this mx-select-sound app, I wouldn't know where to look in PA *giggle*

Re: How many folks use mx-select-sound
Pulseaudio has always worked well for me in previous versions of MX. The only time I had issues was with MX17 where the sound was muted by default in PA. But it had nothing to do with not selecting the right sound card.
