with MX, I never go distro hopping

I've boxed myself in, really. I realistically will never leave the Debian distro family, because I am completely happy with apt, and only Debian-based distros use it (I think--?). Therefore, my choices are limited to the Debian-based. Most of them are -buntus (including the Mint-based ones, right? since Mint is Ubuntu-based) and I stay away from -buntus. I've used antiX successfully, but only after putting significant effort into modifying it. I suppose I could always use Debian itself, but why? MX does what I want and installs much faster and more easily (judging by the last time I tried Debian, which admittedly was not recently).

From my timeline:

2001: Mandrake-8.2, Bluebird, with Kde-2.2, Gnome & I added IceWM.
Ran Mandrake full-time in various forms until Mandrake 9.2 bricked
my brand-new CD/DVD-RW drive in 2003, (actually it was the fault of LG for
building non-ATAPI-compliant drives) 

So, Mandrake was blamed at the time because they didn't test it,
which was probably irrealistic but they were the delivery vessel. :)

It's possible, if they mess up the firmware, like some laptops were bricked but some version of Ubutu that were messing with BIOS...
