Kent, don't change anything, I did some testing in VM and on installed MX-17 I for the first update I got the same results as you then I ran apt-get update again and I get the second result. In my VM one extra apt-get update worked, on the installed MX-17 I needed to run it 3 times.

That is probably the same as I experienced. With a 17.1 install I used MX Updater> Check for updates, and the third time they showed up.

Yeah, I think it was just coincidence that the updates showed up after I fiddled with the setting in the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades file, it just required another round (or two) of updating.
