language problem in mx 17

ive just installed mx17 on an old laptop but although i selected uk english in set up during installation once i booted into my desktop its only partly uk english. folders and apps etc are in russian or something. even the date on desktop is only part uk
any help appreciated

I think we had this situation before. Sounds like you selected Ukrainian (uk) instead of United Kingdom. Is that en_GB?

ah ok im with you. do i need to do a re-install then

try from a terminal

sudo update-locale LANG=en_GB.utf8

then logout/login.
