What's the meaning behind the codenames for MX and antiX?
What's the meaning behind the codenames for MX and antiX?
Hi.
What's the meaning behind the codenames for MX and antiX?
For example: Heather Heyer, Horizon, etc.
Thanks.

Horizon is just a cool word for stuff in the distance, sometimes consider the future.
Heather Heyer was a protester killed at a rally in the carolinas.
FYI...we are not discussing antiX's choice in codenames on this forum.

Hi DO. Thanks for the info. Do you mean the MX codenames (i.e. Horizon) can be talked about here but never the antiX codenames? Must I go to the antiX section (viewforum.php?f=40) to discuss their codenames?dolphin_oracle wrote:Horizon is just a cool word for stuff in the distance, sometimes consider the future.

I mean that the antiX codenames tend to have political connotations and this forum tries to avoid political conflict.Raymzap wrote:Hi DO. Thanks for the info. in short, anti can name his distros whatever he wants.
This isn't necessarily pointed at you. I don't mean to imply otherwise. I've gotten into fights, arguments, and "discussions" online discussing "Heather Heyer" in particular. So general questions are fine, but we aren't going to have any fights over the names here.
MX names are non-political by design. talk about them all you like.

Also, you posted this in the Mepis section, with which it has nothing to do.

We could have tried Red Horizon :)MX names are non-political by design.
BTW, we are trying to be non-political here because people have different political orientations but what matter here is the technology and it's a pity to get in useless and time consuming debates about stuff that's not directly relevant to MX Linux and also pushes people apart. I can very well collaborate with anticapitalista although I was itching to change my nickname to anticommunista...

Ok. I guess that's the prerogative of anti.dolphin_oracle wrote:I mean that the antiX codenames tend to have political connotations and this forum tries to avoid political conflict.Raymzap wrote:Hi DO. I agree - I think politics should be steered clear of as much as possible in forums.
I prefer the MX naming system.
BTW - would it be possible to suggest future codenames for MX?

Sorry, my mistake. Can you move this thread to a more appropriate location?Jerry3904 wrote:Also, you posted this in the Mepis section, with which it has nothing to do.
