Re: MX-17 Beta 1 Feedback Thread

#221 Post by Mauser »

I was just looking at MX-17 on my desktop running it as a live USB and it looks like many bugs to be worked out especially with the panel not being visible at first until I switched it to the bottom and everything was way off to the left. When I would open programs they would off the left side of the screen as I could see just the shadow with compton enabled. It's like everything is way off to the left off the screen except for the wall paper. I guess it will be a while till all the bugs get worked out.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

I was able to grab the ISO image overnight and I hope to have the opportunity to try it out this weekend. I usually have very good success, even with early builds; hope the great track record of the team continues. Meanwhile most of my working hours are spent testing financial services software and I've been working hard lately, hence very little experimentation with software on my own time. But since MX is my "go-to" home system, I'll be checking it out ASAP.

Jerry, thanks for the tip on the up coming B2.

For me the 4.9 kernel is unstable on my new hardware, spontaneously rebooting every day or two often at idle, without much going on.

In contrast the 4.10 kernel in antix 17 rc1 was been stable, first uptime (after the 0906 BIOS and the nvidia driver- noveau locks keyboard and mouse every 1-2 days) was 8 1/2 days. Now a second test with antix 17 final, fully updated has been up with no crashes or lockups for >5 days.

I will certainly install the b2 of MX, and may then explore (again) updating kernels , maybe trying the antix 4.10 on MX b2.

I never had this issue with previous versions of MX Linux. I did notice that I would see the Antec design wallpaper and in about 30 seconds it went to the Xfce wallpaper that has the mouse in the middle.

yeah, I think the TV is being picked up as primary. I would try unplugging and rebooting. Or turning on the TV.

OK. It's strange that it does that. I will give that a try.
