I do like the ability to upgrade individual packages easily. I wanted to do this in Synaptic the other day, skipping the VB packages to save on ISP data. I didn't see an obvious way to do that with Synaptic in the end.

I can also see all my installed applications, which is handy. I should learn how to manually export such a list for reference and re-installation in the future.

individual packages easily [..] I didn't see an obvious way to do that with Synaptic
bottom-left, click to filter based on package status and select "upgradable" as the filter.
In the list displayed, you can right-click any line and toggle "mark for upgrade" for that line item.
From there, you can immediately click "Apply" button, or mark additional lines.
Shift-click selects a range of lines, in case you want to mark several selected in one operation.

ps:
if you visit synaptic preferences and set a color for various status(es), it will be immediately obvious which packages are upgradable, without the need to use the filter-by status buttons.

@ skidoo. Thank you. Had not thought of setting colors, a good scheme. Also, statuses is correct according to Webster, although as status originates from the Latin, statii could be accepted in some places. Then again, some experts say that status does not need a plural.

Just a short update about plans, I sent this to translation, once is done I will push it as an update to mx-packageinstaller (and it will remove mx-test-repo-installer, mx-debian-backports-installer and also remove this mx-package-manger because it won't get updates, only mx-packageinstaller will.

Sounds nice and tidy for our end, thank you kindly. :celebrate2:

Makes a lot of sense, thanks Adrian. Will be documented next User Manual update.

Whenever I try to install the package I can't find it (regardless of the mirror) and Gdebi is broken :frown:
I need to find a solution before I can try package-manager...

Edit : when I launched Gdebi through CLI it worked and then I could manually install mx-package-manager

Edit2 : I don't know if it is worth to mention it but I had mx15 main non-free source disabled. Everything has return to normal now :p

Pardon my ignorance if I post in the wrong thread. However, I could not find any dedicated section for MX tools only (maybe an idea :lipsrsealed: ). I am very new to linux but I think I get the concept of packages and repositories very well. I've been just playing with the MX Test Repo when upgrading xfce4 packages. I did not like it and started downgrading relevant packages back to the stable version using synaptics. I started with the least significant one.

The issue:
- MX Package Installer now shows that there is a newer version in the Stable Repo even though there is not. See the example below. The last version of xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin in the stable repo is 0.2.4-1. Could someone please confirm that this is a glitch in the GUI?

PS: Refreshing the list does not help. Maybe purging apt will help?
I use Google before asking dumb questions but I am new to Linux. Thank you for your patience :-)
