An unintended change was included in the recent upgrade for MX-15 that started to show up on November 12th. If you upgraded and cannot get a Desktop, but get booted to a terminal this post will explain how to fix the problem.

Once you get to a desktop, disable the MX-16 repo. This can be done using synaptic from the Settings>Repositories menu. Just uncheck the entry containing MX-16 and reload. Alternately you can, as root, delete the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mx16.list, and reload the sources.
The repositories have been corrected, but you may want to wait until all propagate before accepting an upgrade
