XScreen Saver Warning message

#1 Post by Teat_Nag »

When I logged in this morning I breifly saw a rather strange pop-up for a few seconds (kind of scary) related to the screen saver.
When I opened the screen saver setting, the following pop-up is displayed:
XScreenSaver_Warning.png
What can be done to get rid of this annoyance?

Thanks for the reply. I am not the only one seeing this annoyance.
However, there is not yet a solution to get rid of it.

Just keep monitoring that thread. If a solution is possible it will be discovered.

Issue fixed with XScreenSaver version 5.30, available through regular updates.

This annoying message is one I saw today. So clearly the current version is old. When will mxlinux be pushing out an update?

It seems that Debian couldn't decide whether to patch the warning out, honor upstream's request to remove xscreensaver from debian, or fork it. So they've done nothing. They haven't even updated xscreensaver in unstable yet.

Xscreensaver 5.38 (the latest release) has now been uploaded to the MX main repo for MX-15 -> MX17.
