It is quick.
Probably for my resource challenged internet connection.
Just need to figure out where all the tweaks are.
last time I checked it could not handle YouTube

I'll try Midori on YouTube this evening. The version 0.7.x is much improved over version 0.5.x in the MX repo. Imagine there are still things to do but it reminds me of the beginning of Firefox when it was called Phoenix and was a fraction of the size of Firefox today.

Using cellphone Hotspot via Android for internet access my goal is a lighter footprint than Firefox. Installed Claws-mail which is lighter but will take a while to convert completely.
Used Sylpheed-Claws many years ago, before Gmail on dial-up.
Thinkpad T430 & Dell Latitude E7450, both with MX-21.3.1
kernal 5.10.0-26-amd64 x86_64; Xfce-4.18.0; 8 GB RAM
Intel Core i5-3380M, Graphics, Audio, Video; & SSDs.

I couldn't tell whether he was testing ye olde Midori 0.5 or or Midori 7, myself.
We could make sure he gets 7 by moving it to main, which it seems to be ready for.

When I run the Test Repo version in a terminal, I get about 20 repeats of this:

Code: Select all

(midori:1435): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:59:46.572: Allocating size to GtkBox 0x55dd031de820 without calling gtk_widget_get_preferred_width/height(). How does the code know the size to allocate?
Still works, but I wonder what that implies for future use.

Apparently it's due to a long-standing bug in GTK 3 itself: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1488249

and a zillion other GTK 3 apps will get similar warnings.
