Disappearing Panel Items <SOLVED>

#1 Post by rbeltz48 »

I moved the panel in Xfce from the left side to the top. Then I rearranged a few things on the panel. I logged out or restarted. Then when the desktop came up several items were gone that were on the original left side panel. Any ideas as to what may have happened or how to restore things? Thanks.

You can reset the default with MX-TWEAK

lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

And when done lock your panel !

I saves headaches.
Of course you have to unlock to swithc orientation, but then re-lock it.

I ran MX-TWEAK and the same icons are still missing from the Panel: Wireless, Sound and Power Management. What am I missing? Thanks.

I ran MX-TWEAK a couple of times and clicked Restore Default Panel. It didn't work.

sounds like the systray plugin to the panel. either that, or those items were removed.

network-manager-gnome
volumeicon-alsa
xfce4-power-manager

are the three you mention, and they usually sit in the systray/notification area.

restoring the default panel should have restored those, unless their autostart has bee disabled.

does the mx-updater icon still appear?

I found the answer. It was the theme I was using. It was light in color and those three items were also light in color. So they didn't show up in the panel. I'll remember that the next time I decide to change the theme. Thanks for all your speedy help!
