I have budgie installed on my develoment machine. I liked it for the most part, particularly the audio settings sidebar.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

It may replace XFCE in Future with modern look if it provides same customization as that of XFCE

IMO, budgie doesn't have near the customization of Xfce. and it likely won't, since its built on the gnome stack.

1253MiB RAM used for just a terminal and file manager seems a lot. I guess that's another disadvantage of the gnome stack.
Looks ok but that's a minor consideration. Any DE can be made to look ok with the right theme.

Yes Ram Utilization is bit high due to heavy DE of Budgie when compared with XFCE

Don't use neofetch for ram usage it's misleading.

Run

Code: Select all

free -w -h
In terminal. Most of the ram usage is just buffer. You'll find anywhere from 550mb-800mb is the actual ram usage after boot using budgie.
