I just picked up this DELL Inspiron 15 5000 BIOS running WIN10, I tried booting Live MX-18.1_x64.iso on a from a USB Flash Drive w/o success. No matter what I do the BIOS bypasses the usb and immediately boots WINDOWS. I have installed MX on number laptops to co-exist with WINDOWS but don't see how do it given there isn't any boot option for USB. The BIOS has only two boot options, HARD DRIVE and Network.
Is there some way to make my live usb look like a hard drive?

Maybe this will help:

If you use Rufus in Windows to burn the MX iso to the USB stick it should be detected as a UEFI-bootable device.

I found a solution. Using a different laptop running mx I used the tool to make a live usb onto a usb portable hard drive. The Dell BIOS recognized the usb portable drive as an additional hard drive and allowed me to boot from it. Once boot I installed mx on the DELL internal drive.

I had tried rufus, it didn't work for me. The BIOS didn't show it as a boot option.JayM wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 11:28 pm Maybe this will help:
