You'll not use much less space even if you do have no Libre Office nor games, but what I do is do a normal install, then manually remove those programs I know I'll never want. Not having Libre Office will only release about 300 - 400 MB.
A better solution if space is very tight on your hard drive, would be to install antiX-17.4.1_386-base which is only 658MiB in it's ISO form and contains very few programs indeed.

Or you could install the MX18 Continuum (Minimal) Release by manyroads:
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=47910
then manually install just the packages you want. The current download link is in post #78 on page 8 in that thread (the archive.org site.) Note that this is (I believe) based on MX-18.1 so there will be a LOT of updates/upgrades if you use this respin, but that shouldn't be a problem if you have a reliable Internet connection of 10Mbps or more.

Remove those packages before installing. E.g by this procedure:zero_coder wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 5:28 am How can I install mxlinux without libre office and games?
Do this when running Live before installing.
Open MX Package Installer and uninstall:
->Select stable Repo tab:
Libre Office:
select "installed", type into search field "libeoffice"
-> mark all found -> click Uninstall
-> Games:
For all those 7 games do as above:
select "installed", type into search field the name of the game to uninstall
-> mark all found
Close MX Package installer and remove all no longer needed addtitional packages:.
Open terminal
Code: Select all
sudo apt autoremove

YOu probably need to choose "save desktop changes" when you proceed with your installation on the hdd/ssd, though.
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

@fehlix:
Or a bundling of MX Linux's 'standard games via a meta-package (which would mean that then all games could altogether be removed with three clicks in Synaptic)?
Just an idea.
Greetings, Joe
Maybe there could be an option in the installer where you can decide if you want any games?fehlix wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 8:22 amRemove those packages before installing. (...)zero_coder wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 5:28 am How can I install mxlinux without libre office and games?

Right, perhaps the easier bit would be to have an entry within MX Package Installer -> Populare Apps under Office and Games for those standard installes to get it installed and uninstalled. ...MX-16_fan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2019 8:36 am @fehlix:

Wouldn't it be easier to follow the Antix lead and provide a -base iso. Theirs is only 658 MiB as opposed to the full one of about 1 GB. I just ran up a copy and it has no Libre Office and only one game, Mahjong, but everything else is available through their package manager.

Two different distros with different user profiles and different objectives.
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

'T'was just an idea since a lot is made of the similarities between the two systems on these forums. Obviously that is one major difference, or is it just too much work?
