That was it!
I restarted the computer and the GRUB is there, where I can choose Linux or Windows.
Many thanks Fehlix!

simply because we are all so busy and you don't want to get it overlooked,
so you will indirectly help others when it is finally fixed
Thanks

Re: Startup failure after installation: media test failure check cable
I opened bug report number 113 on 2019-06-13.
When will I know that they fixed it?
Because I decided not to install MX again until it is fixed.

The mxinstaller is currently tweaked ... not sure whether this fix is already included ... but good timing as I was just about to test the latest incarnation anyway ...cedricoola wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 5:04 pm I opened bug report number 113 on 2019-06-13.

Seems to have been fixed with the latest installer.cedricoola wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 5:04 pm I opened bug report number 113 on 2019-06-13.

Just tested a similar scenario as the one you have: Installing MX on a drive with an existing windows with Grub installation into the MBR.
The test: Will the installer change the existing boot flag on the Windows system partition?
Here the result after the installation: As you can see the boot flag did not change.
So the BIOS will see the bootflag as before and will offer to boot from that drive.
Note, most BIOS's would accept a bootflag on any partition, but some BIOS's are a bit picky,
so the implemented fix would help those BIOS's to see the drive as bootable.
The latest installer will shortly be available on MX testrepo, and soon also through normal installation and upgrade process. The installer is also available for direct download at this location:
64-bit: https://github.com/MX-Linux/gazelle-ins ... _amd64.deb
32-bit: https://github.com/MX-Linux/gazelle-ins ... 7_i386.deb

Re: Startup failure after installation: media test failure check cable
In theory, we should change it to "Resolved" when it is fixed. But things are moving very fast right now and Devs sometimes forget the paperwork...When will I know that they fixed it?

Re: Startup failure after installation: media test failure check cable
Good news!
Thanks a lot for testing.
I'm not in a hurry, so I'll wait until it's officially available on MX website.

Fresh News: Today mine has been upgraded to 19.7 via update && upgrade command, then I had a look at MX Package Installer and saw it was in the Stable Repo. This is for 32 bit. If you like, just have a check..
