Mystery Device - GALPon MiniNo

#1 Post by Clive »

Greetings,
Newbie here. Installed MX recently and finding my way around. In my list of devices (viewed in File Manager) there's a named device which I don't recognise. It's labelled GALPon MiniNo. When I try to mount it to see what it is I get the error message (see attached text file).I'm in a dual boot situation with Win 10 64 bit at ID-4: /dev/sdd vendor: Samsung model: SSD 850 PRO 256GB size: 238.47 GiB and MX at ID-3: /dev/sdc vendor: Seagate model: ST3320620AS size: 298.09 GiB . Should I ignore it as an anomoly or is there a remedy? Thank you.

Do/did you have a partition with this distro on there? First result when googling:
https://minino.galpon.org/en

Also.. try what it suggests:

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.
MX-23.2_x64 July 31 2023 * 6.1.0-20-amd64 ext4 Xfce 4.18.1 * 8core AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Asus TUF B450-Plus Gaming UEFI * Asus GTX 1050 Ti Nvidia 525.147.05 * 2x16Gb DDR4 2666 Kingston HyperX Predator
Samsung 860EVO * Samsung S24D330 & P2250 * HP Envy 5030

It's a small text file telling you that the CD for GALPon MiniNo did not mount.

Do you have a CD/DVD in the unit?
Perhaps the media is damaged?

Error mounting /dev/sdc1 at /media/clive/GALPon MiniNo: Command-line `mount -t "iso9660" -o ...

You could rename the file to see if I reappears.
Thinkpad T430 & Dell Latitude E7450, both with MX-21.3.1
kernal 5.10.0-26-amd64 x86_64; Xfce-4.18.0; 8 GB RAM
Intel Core i5-3380M, Graphics, Audio, Video; & SSDs.

  • No I didn't
  • As a newbie I need some help as I don't know how to try what it suggests. I know that I need to use Terminal, but don't the command

I installed MX from USB. No CD/DVD in drive. It's listed as a device - so is the device the CD/DVD player? If I eject it will that clear it from the device list? I don't understand your suggestion to rename file. Sorry, but I am a newbie

Ok.
Yes, eject the CD from the drive if there is one.
The media may be damaged?

Sometimes, instead of just erasing a file,
you could Rename it using a right click inThunar.
Then, if it turns out that you really need the file, you only need to rename it again.
