Installer makes Finish at Step 6 [SOLVED]

#1 Post by vvm »

Hi Mate,

I try to install MX18.1 with the Kernel 4.14 on my HP.
Installer make Steps 1-6 only,
it does not make a new User & a Password,
see Pictures.

Are you doing this with media created from the original ISO, or from a Snapshot?

Sorry about my bad English,

1. I made LIveUSB with MX-Live-USB Maker on my 2nd Notebook
2. I have booted this LiveUSB on this Notebook
3. In LiveSystem on this Notebook
I have installed the Kernel 4.14 with MX Package Installer
4. I have run the Remaster
5. I have installed live-usb kernel updater:
https://mxlinux.org/wiki/help-files/hel ... l-updater/

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update # if needed
sudo apt-get install git # if needed
git clone https://github.com/BitJam/live-kernel-updater
git clone https://github.com/BitJam/cli-shell-utils
cd live-kernel-updater
sudo ./live-kernel-updater
Then I tried to install MX
from this customized LiveUSB on my HP Notebook.
With Kernel 4.14 MX runs on HP without Problem

The same Story
with MX Installing on my 2nd Notebook (VAIO),
it has many other Linux Distros
and MX18.1 too.
They run perfectly together.

This Installer did make 1-6 Steps
and then Last Step FINISH
without making of Useraccount...

I have no Ideas more,
maybe an other ISO for 64 System,
can anybody send me a valid Link???

Installer skips creating account only if you have an account other than demo on your live environment. Do you have anything else in /home? Any other folder except "demo"?

I tried many times to install this MXLiveUSB
on different PCs as a 2nd or 3rd OperatingSystem
and I used different USB-Slots on this PCs too.

There were 2 types of Installation:
1. 2 different Partitions - for Root and my Old Home (without to format it)
2. 1 Partition - for Root + Home here

and always Installer makes 6 Steps + Finish

Adrian

unfortunately it does not work,
I have formatted my HardDrive
it has a swap,
and a new Root and Home Partitions,
they are EMPTY now....

I have installed MX
and it runs without Problems
but as DEMO user only.

what iso are you using?

from the running live system give us the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -F
and

Code: Select all

ls -l /home
http://www.youtube.com/runwiththedolphin
lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
