Samba broken on fresh MX18

#1 Post by zimbodel »

I guess this is for the package manager or person who packages MX.
(I also post on LinuxQuestions MX forum, I dont know which one of the two is the main MX forum)

On a default clean MX18 install, Samba fails to start.
Both through apt installation and the MX-PackageManager.

Here is the error output.

The error seems related to systemd, which is not MX Linux default init system.
You might try to install / setup samba with default booted init-system.

I'm confused, I thought samba has always been pre-installed and set up in a default install?

If you uncheck it in install it doesn't remove the package, it just doesn't start the daemon automatically.
