How to forbid write to ram

#1

Post by govinda9 » Sun Feb 03, 2019 9:53 am

I am running MX-18 as live-iso with frugal_persist option on an laptop. On boot it always write linux.fs to ram, though I don't have the toram option in grub. How to stop the system writing to ram automatically? Thank you Till

If you had previously chosen "toram" and are using legacyBIOS, the following should solve:
F4 options, choose "none"
F8 Save, choose "save"
to continue booting, press Enter twice

If you are reporting that you have never chosen to use toram,
and that it has been applied automatically from the very first frugal_persist boot... wait for other replies.
(I don't know whether, for FRUGAL, that automatic behavior would be considered a feature, or a bug)

sounds like you want the "frugal_static" option instead of "frugal_persist". that should leave the rootfs persistance fille accessed from the usb instead of copying to ram.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.
