...I see two icons for the installer), but why would that happen to him...
Either he manually copied onto desktop.
or
Byteria is using remaster.
With the remaster the skeleton and the leftover icon from
the desktop appears to have different names (or something like that),
so they appear twice.
I've had it a couple of times, but never bothered about the two installer icons.
Will look next time when I see it again, to find the reason.
Just forget my comment above about the two icons on the desktop... that another topic...
...
Looking at my image and Byteria's again:
The two icons on the sidebar are just the icons of the running installer-window AND the popop-window!
And the popup is not showing up at Byteria's session.
As soon as I clikc OK and the confirmation-popup the popop-window-icon disappears from the panel.
So =>: thats the proof, that the popup-confirmation window is not visible for Byteria
or sits behind another window. :exclamation:

EDIT: @Byteria, even if you have another window hiding the confirmation popop-window,
you just need to cylce through all the running window by using the
key-combo ALt+TAB as soon as a 2nd Installer-icon shows up on the panel.

@Adrian,
the first popup "OK for format and destroy"
differs from the 2nd popup "OK to install Grub..." as such, that only the first creates a new window visible on the panel, where as the 2nd stays within the installer-window context and does not create an extra window.
See attched screen dump.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out, that's legacy code, I think I will use "this" to start the QMessages instead of "0". I think that's a better way to do things.

Thank you very much for your patience and willing to test thing, I can provide a build of the installer that provides more debugging info -- it hasn't been tested a lot but it should provide some hints of what is going wrong.

Edit: here you go: https://github.com/MX-Linux/gazelle-ins ... _amd64.deb
install it with regular "dpkg -i mx-installer_18.6.3_amd64.deb" (still a good idea to run a full upgrade before) this build should spit more info on the terminal.
I do have the impression it got's stuck as the confirmation popup "OK for format and destroy"
is not shown during Byteria's installer session. The PopUp might just sit behind another open window.
@Byteria,
have a look at my window layout. The confirmation popup should be visible,
if you would have no other windows within the center of the desktop:

Here is the log from the cli until the popup shows up:

@fehlix,

I think you have solved this last mistery.

How stupid I was, to not see this.

In previous test this week, and in and previous attempts May, 23 and 24, no, there had been no icon duplication.

But this last time, it is the most probable thing.

I was sure you just see the "better" code right away, like a brainstorm. :number1:

Bingo.
Yes! I was forgotting this "parameter".

Edited now and added it.

I think this the most probable solution of this last mistery.

Thanks for the feedback, it actually helps us to make it less confusing for other users too, now if with the new build those message boxes should be always on top of the installer even if you select "always on top".

I wonder whether an optional parameter for showing debug messages might be easy to implement...
