could it be fault of minstall?
note from your terminal screen, state "nvme0n11" instead of "nvme0n1p1" (partition).
partitions for nvme0n1:
partition 1 = nvme0n1p1;
partition 2 = nvme0n1p2;
partition 3 = nvme0n1p3....and so forth.
or
nos of ssd on:
nvme0n1,
nvme0n2,
nvme0n3....and so forth.

suggest install again.
run disk partition;
1b. do partition 1 32gb format ext4, partition 2 for the rest of space, format fat32 or ntfs.
after parting,
1a. select ssd partition 1, then
1c. select partition (not select entire disk).
i did these on my ssd.

Thanks for the links Jerry. I’ll check the options in the BIOS.

Stsoh - yes I think this may be where the problem lies but not sure what to do about it!

For disk problems the first step is to go into the BIOS and see if the BIOS recognizes the drive properly.
Sometimes there are options you can select in the BIOS that can work, like selecting the drive as a boot device...but first the BIOS has to recognize the drive.

I had no special problems with my Samsung nvme, I used gparted before installing.

in this case the problem is in the autoinstall part of the installer and needs fixed.

creating your partitions manually and using the "custom" may work.

Thanks for the extra info Dolphin. I would be happy to test any patch on the installer - let me know if I can help.

Entrophy: BIOS/Disk is fine - have installed (successfully) Lubuntu - though not a patch on MX.

new installer update in the repo this morning that should work better in auto-installer mode. also fixed a few other odd problems. Only been tested so far with mmcblk devices, but they do have a similar partition numbering scheme to nmve so hopefully things work better.

There is some additional debugging info in the text output when you run from the cli, so please post any issues and feedback.

Thanks!

Is any kind of testing useful, or only in certain modes?
Production: 4.15.0-1-amd64, MX-17.1, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 8 GB, Kingston SSD 120 GB and WesternDigital 1TB
Testing: AAO 722: 4.15.0-1-386. MX-17.1, AMD C-60 APU, 4 GB

any kind is useful, but particularly the autoinstaller on mmcblk/nvme devices.

I have successfull autoinstalls on Virtualbox and a mmcblk device.
