remove ubuntu and instal mx17.1

hello i am needing help to uninstall ubuntu on my laptop t420 and install MX17.1

Download MX Linux MX17 iso (32 or 64 version)
If you are user of Windows , use Rufus to write iso and prepare a bootable USB.

If you run only Ubuntu,find a utility to write iso to usb

Start your laptop and boot to Ubuntu
Fre up gparted.
Create a new partition for MX Linux.
Restart laptop from MX Linux USB (prepared before)
Install MX on the new partition that you have created. Install grub on your SSD/HDD MBR (let grub to search and find other existing OS installed on your laptop/PC).Finnish process.
Restart.
Run MX Linux from grub
.....Do you want to remove completely Ubuntu?
Fire up gparted delete the Ubuntu partition and close gparted.
Open terminal update grub by command:
sudo update-grub
to delete Ubuntu from grub.
Done.

If you have already partitioned your HDD or you want to keep the same partitioning of Ubuntu you can simply run MX installer and then overwrite Ubuntu's partitions.
This will wipe your data, of course.

Just install MX in Ubuntu's existing partitions, then. That's the simplest and fastest method.

You can install over the existing Ubuntu. This is the fastest method.But, I will recommend to have Ubuntu as a second Linux on your system.Who knows?When you are sure that everything has gone fine with MXinstallation, you can remove Ubuntu very simple. If you are having space problems, just resize Ubuntu partition to a minimum(You will not need more that 15-20GB for this).I would recommend a second Linux installed on your laptop if you are beginner and you do not know how to resolve any kind of problem by your bootable MX Linux USB. I always have a second Linux installed on my laptop. You can make regularly backup of your MX Linux using dd , rsync, or qt4-fsarchiver and save on a storage part.If something is going wrong, you boot laptop from your second Linux and re-install using about mentioned utilities.
A simple advice.Always have a plan.Always be sure to leave a safe back way.Never destroy all bridges.So...? Keep Ubuntu, until you do not need it anymore.
