I'm still running MX-14 ... long story.
Tried updating my system several weeks ago and got update errors for Iceweasel.
Discovered Iceweasel is no longer available.
Removed Iceweasel and tried to install Firefox using MX Package Installer.
(which gives lots of unmet dependency errors.)
So I downloaded the latest Firefox and executed from the extracted directory.
Problem is I can't set Firefox as the default system wide web browser since it's not really installed.
Can someone please tell how I install Firefox in MX-14 or set Firefox as the default even if it's
not properly installed.
Thanks in advance
Tom

Re: MX-14 Firefox can't install
Could we see what repos you have enabled with the command
From your Iceweasel statement, I'd guess you were using the mozilla.debian.net backports for Wheezy.
Code: Select all

Iceweasel is certainly available here for the Boss's MX-14 installation, repo says most recent version 38.8.0Stevo wrote:Could we see what repos you have enabled with the command

Re: MX-14 Firefox can't install
I also tested installing the community repo Firefox 46.0.1 via the package installer on MX 14 in a VM, and had no problems, which makes me want to see outlaw's software sources.
Re: MX-14 Firefox can't install
Thank you all for your replies.
I "tricked" the system and apps into believing iceweasel was still installed.
# ln -s /home/apollo/bin/firefox-45.0.2/firefox iceweasel
Not the most elegant solution but my time is extremely limited right now.
BTW how do mark a post as solved?
Thanks again ....

Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.
