nvidia_install

#1 Post by bmike1 »

I was wondering about the nvidia_install script. I participate in other boards in which some members complain about installing the drivers for nvidia. Could I possibly tell them about your nvidia_install script? Would they need to compile it from source for it to work for them or else is there a deb for it? Please let me know.

Nvidia_Install is installed by the desktop-defaults-xfce-mx package, it's installed at /usr/local/bin/nvidia-install.

It's a script, so it doesn't need to be compiled.

I don't have a problem with others using it. I wrote it with the assumption that it would used with a Debian based distro like MX-14 (or Mepis 12) which use the Debian Wheezy & Wheezy-backports repos. If you stray too far from that base it probably won't work. For instance it won't work with Mepis 11 which is Squeeze based, and it won't work with Ubuntu based distros.

thank you so much for letting me use it.... well.... not me but other people. it is actually for people using ubuntu or mint. I'm going to put it on a board at bleepingcomputer.com and if I ever hear of anyone else having driver problems. could you post the script somewhere for me? actually, I'm going to post the script with the disclaimer of what os it was designed for and that it might not work with their os.
