It is working here.

I did a fresh install of MX-14. From the command line (as root) I ran:

Code: Select all

apt-get update
apt-get install netflix-desktop
When running netflix-desktop I canceled out of installing mono and waited patiently for the "performing local installation..." progress window to close out on its own. I was then taken to the netflix site and I could watch videos.

Thanks!

Interesting. Could it be related to the package-installer?

Anyway, we do have "wine-mono4.5.2" in the test repo now, which should eliminate the need for the Mono download.

finally got around to real hardware.

mx 14.2 pae, fresh install, dist-upgrade.

Used apt-get install netflix-desktop. Install complete. Here's what I get on launch of netflix-desktop:

Code: Select all

dolphin@mx1:~
$ netflix-desktop
fixme:storage:create_storagefile Storage share mode not implemented.
err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot
err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot

fixme:iphlpapi:NotifyAddrChange (Handle 0xece8f0, overlapped 0xece8fc): stub
wine: configuration in '/home/dolphin/.wine-browser' has been updated.
Failed to obtain an installation lock in two minutes.
Failed to obtain an installation lock in two minutes.
at which point the "Local Installation" window went away, but nothing works. This is very odd. I wonder if there is some kind of server trouble on the Microsoft side.

for giggles, I ran "netflix-desktop" as root, which worked just fine, as long as you want to be root while watching movies

maybe.

I'm still running tests, but I've done 2 clean installs now since my last post. The version of netflix-desktop in the default repos installs fine after a clean install. The version that the mx-package-installer installs does not complete installation. This was attempted on fresh clean non-updated installs.

the error from the console is:

wine client error 47: read: Bad Address

Ok, I'm into my 3rd clean install. The version of the netflix-desktop in the main default repos installs on a base system and a fully updated system. The version that mx-package-installer installs is from the testing repo. That version consistently fails installation.

funny, it used to work from the mx-package-installer didn't it? I'm sure I've installed netflix that way in the past.

I am able to install from the MX package installer successfully, with the 0.8.7 from the main repo.

I am not using "sudo", that is, I chose not to have that service when given the choice in the install. Could that be a factor?

On my system the mx package installer installs 8.8 from the test repo.
