I still have the skype-debian_4.2.0.13-1_i386.deb package stored locally if anyone wants it (currently running on my system without trouble). It is 16.3 MB so gmail should be able to handle it.

They finally found me, today it would not let me log in anymore.

Wait and see if I can get this thing to work *shrug*

If you have the time and interest, I would be interested to see if this works:

I am not messing with my current install, I'd have to make a clone and try it on that. Maybe tomorrow sometime. Hopefully someone will report back before then :)

My install works peachy. Skype doesn't anymore as I indicated :) But I have the experience of messing with a door knob and the cooking pot failing, so I am not messing with the sound system until I have a clone to mess with.

In case you are interested this skype debs 4.2.0.13 and 4.2.0.11 work:
http://www.datafilehost.com/d/6bbdc14c
http://www.datafilehost.com/d/ab3ffdc7

Also you can use xxd script/command to temporary change the version of your installed skype:
http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions ... n-spoofing
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 753#796753

There is also workaround to run Skype 2.2.0.35 here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=95202

Much interesting links/downloads and information you can find here (for windows but the fixes are very similar for linux version):

Tried it with LiveUSB 14.2, doesn't work. Libpulse0 is already installed by default.

EDIT: I see now that the version reviewed for that Wiki entry is 4.2...

A lot of applications are compiled with pulseaudio support, which is going to pull in libpulse0. That's does not mean pulseaudio is running, just that the support is there if necessary.

From the package description, it looks like you need "pulseaudio", which installs the pulseaudio daemon, among other things. The daemon is started at boot and it provide pulseaudio. Installing the suggested and recommended packages would also be a good idea:

Suggests: pulseaudio-utils
Suggests: pavumeter
Suggests: pavucontrol
Suggests: paman
Suggests: paprefs
Recommends: pulseaudio-module-x11
Recommends: gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio
Recommends: rtkit

This is what worked for me.
"I had a problem with the Skype upgrade (?) and the webcam built in mic not working. Found the solution here <http://askubuntu.com/questions/222765/u ... ot-working>.
Everything now works as it should."
